Chapter Lunch Program - CLT Storm Water Regulations

Join Craig Miller, Water Quality Program Administrator for the City of Charlotte as he discusses compliance with stormwater regulations. Topics will include:

  • Pressure washing, specifically of parking lots, and proper disposal of wash water
  • Proper disposal of wash water and other items from contractor work such as painting, cleaning, landscaping, maintenance/repairs
  • Potential violations and fines for not complying with the Stormwater Pollution Control Ordinance
  • Responsibilities of property owners and facility managers with respect to ordinance compliance
  • Recent local prohibition of pavement sealants containing high levels of a toxic compound called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
  • Inspection and maintenance requirements for structural stormwater control measures (ponds, detention basins, underground basins, etc.)
  • State requirements for inspection and maintenance of private sanitary sewer systems
Craig Miller is a Water Quality Program Administrator for the City of Charlotte Storm Water Services.  In his position he supervises a team responsible for managing and implementing the City's municipal stormwater permit.  He has worked for the city for over 13 years and previously worked in Charlotte in both the private and public sectors for 11 years.  He has a Master of Science in Environmental Science from UNC Chapel Hill where he also attended as an undergrad.
