Facilities Technician, Operations Team

Overview

McGuireWoods LLP is in search of a Facilities Technician to join our Operations Team in our Charlotte office. This position requires an individual with a high degree of focus on customer service, exceptional technical skill and an aptitude for facilities maintenance including general building trouble-shooting, diagnosing and repairs. 

The preferred candidate will have knowledge in scheduling building maintenance and repairs as well as ability to quickly learn office floors, buildings, systems, norms of operation, occupancy and conditions of use in order to anticipate and respond to customer needs and requirements responsibly and professionally.  Candidate should be customer service oriented, a self-starter, reliable, flexible, organized, conduct themselves in a professional manner, be able to make informed decisions, work on projects independently as well as function as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Performs minor repairs and maintenance (furniture, equipment and facilities) independent of outside contractors
  • Performs preventative maintenance on necessary equipment and additional HVAC systems
  • Receives requests and coordinates a solution in a timely manner (moving, maintenance, janitorial)
  • Assists in overseeing work performed by outside contractors (plumbing, electrical, HVAC and equipment repairs)
  • Coordinates necessary maintenance and services needed with property management
  • Receives and coordinates delivery of all large shipments and equipment 
  • Arranges office equipment/furniture and office moves/set up 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience and/or training preferably in a Commercial Office Building 
  • Customer service skills (communications, problem solving, work prioritization & scheduling)
  • Electrical skills  (minor repairs and troubleshooting)
  • Familiarity with safety equipment such as first aid and procedures such as fire safety
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with general plumbing (oversee repairs of non-bathroom sinks and fixtures)and HVAC
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to handle and move equipment and furniture in excess of 100 pounds
  • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and working cell phone
  • Must have strong communication skills,written and spoken
